Time to Build Our Own and Stop Crying For Inclusion

Black people in South Africa are marginalized because they tend to own very little resources, assets or businesses. We fight for inclusion instead of building our own empires for our children to inherit. It is now imperative to understand that black privilege starts with us.

Why are we so content with big corporates being forced to take a “black-owned company” as a subcontractor, and thereby given tax-breaks while they compensate a mere “R500, 000.00” to the subcontractor, in a Multi-billion Rand tender? Is this really in the name of Black Economic Empowerment?

The vision of the WCN founding members is to educate and ensure self-reliance among our people and provide the services and products that are required for this, through WCN subsidiaries.

One might ask, why the whole supply chain? Is it not too far-fetched? The answer is simple. Most of us probably stay in a security estate or know someone who does. The reality is that these accredited companies are mostly white-owned, and one cannot simply penetrate the current system…It is exclusionary in nature! As a result, to break away from the status quo, we have to build our own businesses in order to be self-reliant and to empower our members through self-employment and acquiring tangible assets.

This is a journey of true freedom in the land of our ancestors.
